November 16th, 2015 · 1 Comment

The winter months pose the greatest risk for electrical fires. In homes across the Midwest, electrical heating appliances are working overtime. This is especially true in the areas around Minocqua and Eagle River, WI. When disaster strikes in the form of an electrical fire, the resulting damage can be devastating. Home and business owners know to call ServiceMaster Specialty Restoration Services for all their fire restoration needs.

There are several ways in which an electrical fire can start in a home or business. A short circuit can occur due to faulty wiring, worn cords, or defective equipment. If the short doesn’t trip a breaker or blow a fuse, the intense heat generated by the short can ignite any flammable materials in close proximity to the overheated circuit. Overloading a circuit can also result in a spark that could start a fire. Home and business owners should make sure their building’s wiring is up to code for the safety of their family and employees.

The damage that can result from an electrical fire includes smoke, soot, and the many gallons of water the local fire department uses to extinguish the blaze. Water damage restoration is just one component in getting the structure back into a habitable condition. Mold remediation may also be necessary to eliminate the risk of unhealthy mold forming in damp areas behind drywall and underneath floor boards.

Hopefully, an electrical fire will never start in your home or business. If it does, people living in Minocqua and Eagle River, WI know who to call. You can rely on the trusted team of trained professionals at ServiceMaster Specialty Restoration Services for all your fire restoration needs. This is some great information, and I appreciate your point that fire restoration may also include mold remediation because of the water used to extinguish the flames. I hadn’t considered that fire restoration was more than just cleaning soot and smoke damage! There was a fire in my kitchen yesterday, so I’ll definitely look into finding a company who can do fire restoration and mold remediation. Thanks for the great post!
